Literature Text

Her head hangs low
While red tears fall,
Hitting the ground
With an orange splash.

The autumn colored teardrops
Form a puddle of sorrow;
Encasing her feet
In liquid grief.

The cold crisp air
Molds little icicles
On the tips of her hair,
Causing her to shiver.

She stands alone
While all around her
Autumn leaves
Spill down the sides of trees,
Painting the path gold.

But the gold doesn’t glow
Because no sun shines now,
And all that is colored seems dull,
For Mother Nature is sad today,
And we cannot take her grief away.
I wrote this for a contest from Chasing Ink. The theme was either Autumn or Trick-or-Treat. I chose Autumn (obviously). The "her" in the poem is Mother Nature, in case you don't figure that out which you probably will since it's kind of obvious...... Anyways, hope you all like it.
